PAYROLL TECHNICIAN

 

Definition

Under general supervision, performs assigned payroll functions for the District.

Typical Tasks

1. Prepare payroll monthly and as necessary.

2. Maintain control of blank payroll check stock and actual printing of checks.

3. Maintain all necessary payroll files.

4. Maintain all deduction information and make required reports including taxes, retirements, and other deduction.

5. Prepare record cash receipts.

6. Prepare payroll reports for site managers and directors as necessary.

7. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education, Experience and Skills Required

1. Associate of Arts Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent education or experience.

2. Three years general governmental accounting and payroll experience.

3. Ability to organize and prioritize workload; ability to meet deadlines.

4. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

5. Ability to use office equipment such as a computer terminal, calculator, copier and fax machine.
