PAYROLL SUPERVISOR
Definition
Under general supervision, performs assigned payroll functions for the District.
Typical Tasks
1. Prepare payroll monthly and as necessary including verification of general ledger codes.
2. Maintain control of blank payroll check stock and actual printing of checks.
3. Maintain all necessary payroll files. Perform annual review of files for completeness.
4. Maintain all deduction information and make required reports including taxes, retirements, and other deduction. Perform general ledger reconciliation of deduction accounts.
5. Prepare record cash receipts.
6. Maintain IBM AS400 computer system including program updates.
7. Assist Accountant in supervising, training, and evaluating Accounting Clerk.
8. Prepare payroll and accounting reports for site managers and directors as necessary.
9. Assist and train other members of the Business Office to assist with work overload.
10. Maintain scanning and archives of payroll items.
11. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education, Experience and Skills Required
1. Associate of Arts Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent education or experience.
2. Five years general governmental accounting and payroll experience, including a minimum of two years experience supervising staff.
3. Two years experience in computer management.
4. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
