| The Challenge: | SWRSD is challenged to read around the world in 100 days. |
| The Goal: | The goal is to read 5,160,000 minutes in 100 days.
We have approximately 750 students, 220 employees, and 750 parents. 750 students X 30minutes a day =
22,500 minutes
If we each read 30 minutes a day out of school that equals 51,600 minutes a day. 51,600 minutes of reading a day X 100 days = 5,160,000 minutes! OUR GOAL!! |
| The Procedure for Figuring Distance Traveled: | Distance traveled = (minutes read X 25,000) devided by 5,160,000 |
| The REWARD!! | The top k-8 school and top k-12 school who read the longest amount of time will receive a print from a nationally known Alaskan Artist. The district wide top reading school will have Karen Swenson come to their school to either be taped to the wall or read to students from the roof top. |
